About the book
A lover from Lafour
A Love Story in Savadkouh (عشقنامهای از سوادکوه) is about the life and poems of Taghi Lafouri Savadkouhi, a man from Lafour in Savadkouh, in Iran's Mazandaran province. He put his love for Masoumeh Baker, and his separation from her, into a poem in Tabari (Mazandarani) that was passed down by word of mouth to the present day.
The book presents the poem couplet by couplet with a Persian translation and notes on its words, examines the different accounts of the poet's life that have been published, and introduces, with photographs, the villages and pastures the poem names.
The final chapters collect Taghi's other poems, including verses about the khans and men of power of his time, an uninvited guest, an improvised poem at a wedding, and an epidemic among the livestock.
The book is written in Persian.
